Most men’s programs look at one or two aspects of men’s development, and predominantly in the “warrior” quadrant of our persona. It makes a lot of sense to awaken that facet of ourselves that gets things done, that encourages action, that gets us past our BS and into truth and direction. It can be a very powerful experience, albeit incomplete if we don’t incorporate the other quadrants.

The Integral Man Institute (IMI) focuses on numerous psychological and spiritual constructs that overlay one another. The first of these is the King, Warrior, Magician (I like Wizard), and Lover archetypes described by Carl Jung and expanded through the book of the same title by Moore and Gillette in 1990. These archetypes represent the four major dimensions of masculinity, but the real transformation occurs when you understand how they interact with one another.

The second construct has to do with the four subtle bodies oftentimes discussed in indigenous people’s worldview and includes the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual bodies. They lay over and also interact with Jung’s model as follows: the Warrior is about the physical world and is represented by green for earth, the Magician is associated with the mental body and the corresponding yellow for mind, the Lover is the emotional body and corresponds to water, and the King, or Sovereign, represents the Spiritual body and the color purple for royalty…or sovereignty of self.

This integral model is used in every aspect of the work to build a more complete man. It invites you to a deeper commitment, where we step beyond victim mentality and into the exploration of the subconscious and shadow parts of us that are really running the show.

A fully realized Sovereign is directly linked to the superconscious and receives clear information from his Magician to issue clear direction and boundaries to the Warrior, which is appropriately tempered by the healthy emotions and care for the hearts of those you rule through the Lover.
